Show Notes

Nikitha Satish
- Fashion designer and a social entrepreneur working for the cause of handlooms and craft through women’s contemporary clothing line- Dori and a lifestyle brand - Kaiyaré, working with agricultural waste made by women artisans in Karnataka.
With people first philosophy as the heart of both the brands, sustainability and impact has been the core of her work for over a decade.

DORI

Founded in 2014, Dori was born out of a desire to connect back to the roots. Dori is a women’s contemporary brand rooted to its artisans. We work with the weavers in Villages near Ilkal, Karnataka to make Contemporary clothing for women. Kasuti embroidery is a main part of the collection. All hand embroidered through an NGO, KaiKrafts, based in Dharwad who provide skill development and financial independence to women. Through Dori, the goal is to re-introduce rich Indian heritage and textile to the world.

KAIYARÉ

In 2019, I along with Anvitha Prashanth started the brand -  Kaiyaré.
Kaiyare, meaning handmade in Kannada, wears its heart on its sleeve, quite literally. We currently have 20 women working out of Kabini, Karnataka, who make the banana fibre products completely by hand.

The philosophy of Kaiyare is to celebrate all things made by hand. We believe it’s the process of making things by hand, that breathes life into the products. No product looks alike and every artisan has their own uniqueness they add to everything they make and we want to always celebrate that.
